On Saturday my wife and I caught up with some of our oldest and dearest friends for a “grown-ups” lunch, something we haven’t done for a long time. With our children being adults (24 and 20), I thought that included them, if they wished to go out with Mum and Dad. However, I was told it was a no-offsrping lunch, so off we went, getting a lift with annother friend into the city.
We caught up with our friends for a couple of drinks at the Urban Turban. While there, we spotted this:
A little while later, we saw a sea-going polynesian Waka going for a sail
We soon moved over to Jack Tar‘s for lunch. When we mentioned the mix up with off-spring, the wonderful world of modern technology sprang into play, and about 45 minutes later, we were joined by our boys. However, our food had been eaten by the time they arrived:
For Mrs T and my wife (shared)
Both of these were delicious. And I had
The food price was reasonable, the taste and quality were great. And this was all washed down with a few beers, a bit of champagne-style, and a crisp sauvignon blanc. Just after our boys arrived, got their drinks and some food, a diner at another table looked over to see watch what a wonderful time was being had.
We then went for a wander around Auckland’s Silo Park to let the meal settle.
I can recommend Jack Tar’s for a meal and drinks. The food was good value, delicious, and the staff were great.
We bid our farewells, and some 5 hours after we arrived, we started walking off to the car (there is definitely an advantage to having a 20 y.o. son as the designated driver). Unfortunately, we did have a hold up in the carpark, and after trying 4 ticket machines, the designated driver realised we were in the wrong carpark! The correct carpark was about 200 metres westwards :-))
And such a good way to celebrate 29 years of marriage!
