I have just returned from a Sunday evening at the cinema seeing one of the funniest movies I’ve seen for many years – “What we do in the Shadows”.
This mockumentary has a fine balance of understated humour, slapstick, and seriousness.
Basic premise? 4 vampires flatting together, arguing about doing their chores, trying to decide what to wear out – very troublesome without a reflection – and inviting people over for dinner. And stirring up a local pack of warewolves!
This may be a particularly New Zealand film – poking fun at the Karori Zombie Club – and starring well known Kiwi actors Jemaine Clement (Vladislav), Rhys Darby (Anton, the alpha male of the warewolf gang), (both of Flight of the Conchords among others), and Taika Waititi (Viago) (also Boy, Green Lantern).
If you want a chuckle – or even some laughing out load – check out What We Do in the Shadows. IMDB has rated it at 8.3 – so far.
