Well, tomorrow my wife, my younger son, and I are off on a road trip. My young man is off to Wellington to attend the New Zealand School of Music at Victoria University of Wellington to continue with his second year of his B.Mus. A big adventure starts for him.
Hopefully I will be able to share the driving, and have an opportunity to take a few shots of the countryside as we drive by.
For those who don’t know much about New Zealand, we are driving from Auckland to Wellington – about a 650 km drive. We will be driving through the “Central Plateau”, along the “Desert Road”. The Central Plateau is quite elevated above sea level, and the Desert Road is so called because it goes through the Rangipo Desert – an alpine desert. We will be driving past Mt Ngaruahoe and Mount Ruapehu (and Mt Tongiriro). You may know Mt Ngaruahoe as “Mt Doom” from the Lord of the Rings films. Here is a shot my elder son took almost 2 years ago.
After my foray into shooting the stars, I thought I would also share the longer exposures I took at the same time. Feel free to let me know which photo you prefer – on looking at them again, I am a little undecided as to which one is best. Each has a charm of its own. (However, don’t look too closely at the bluriness – in the second I had to put up with the cats streaking past the tripod, and one of them brushed in his way past)
As ever, Live, Laugh, Love!
And be safe and warm if you’re out and about 🙂
